Decontamination
Surgical instruments arrive at the decontamination area and are registered by scanning their QR code; the system indicates whether manual washing is required or if another option is available.
Following registration upon scanning the QR codes, the instruments and washing machines begin the wash cycle.
The system records data such as the cycle, the program used, and the wash duration, and verifies whether any anomalies occurred during the process.
Sterilization
Instruments are inspected and registered to check for defects, damage, missing items, or dispatch for maintenance.
During the surgical set packaging process, it is possible to replace instruments or modify the set composition.
The system also allows consulting the history to validate set contents.
During the packaging process, new QR codes are printed and applied to the containers, ensuring full traceability for the new cycle.
Storage
After sterilization, instruments and instrument trays can be distributed immediately or placed in storage.
The system identifies the exact storage location and provides expiry alerts for stored items. It also allows expired items to be returned to the packaging stage to begin a new cycle.
Use in the operating room
When the surgical instrument set arrives in the operating theatre, the nurse receives it and links it to the patient’s ID.
In the operating theatre, if any alerts arise, the notification system allows nurses to report errors relating to a surgical set. The sterilization department then receives a notification so that the necessary corrections can be made.
At the end of the surgical procedure, the nurse verifies the instruments used against the original set. The sterilization unit is then automatically notified of the items it will receive.
